MEDEX Launches New Travel Agency, Travel Express

New In-House Travel Agency Increases Customer Service and Saves Clients Money

Baltimore, MD. (Vocus) November 17, 2009 -- MEDEX Global Group announced the creation of Travel Express, a new wholly-owned subsidiary that will serve as the official travel agency for MEDEX's Emergency Response Center (ERC), emergency evacuations and corporate travel.

Each year, MEDEX protects millions of travelers, evacuating thousands who have experienced medical or security emergencies far from home. These evacuations often occur on commercial carriers and MEDEX issues approximately 1,000 airline tickets a year. In the past, MEDEX has relied on an external travel agency to make transportation arrangements. "This high volume of tickets was the impetus for us seeking ARC [Airline Reporting Corporation certification to launch Travel Express," states Susan Torroella, MEDEX Chief Operating Officer.

Travel Express will be available around-the-clock to book MEDEX evacuations on commercial carriers. This enables MEDEX to access lower fares on behalf of their clients and book tickets in a more timely manner. "When travelers call MEDEX, they want to get home as soon as possible. With an in-house travel agency, that can happen more quickly and at a lower cost," Torroella comments.
