U.S. Students Studying Abroad

As you plan your semester or year abroad, you may be required to have international medical insurance coverage. Unfortunately, most domestic policies won't cover you when you are in another country. CMI offers affordable insurance options with variable benefit levels and deductibles so you can design a plan that fits your needs. Or, if you are one of the few who will be covered by your domestic insurance, we offer an accidental death and dismemberment program with evacuation coverage to pay for your transfer to a better hospital, or even home. See the plan details below.

Appendicitis in China
A 16-year-old student in Beijing was admitted to a local hospital for an emergency appendectomy. However, the hospital would not perform the surgery without a guarantee of payment. The woman's family contacted CMI for assistance. CMI issued a guarantee of payment while the MEDEX Emergency Response Center monitored the woman's treatment, and helped arrange for her parents to come visit. Several days later, the woman was discharged from the hospital and able to recover with her parents nearby.
